October 7 - December(skips October 14)
Filling fast: THROUGHLINE SCRIPT ANALYSIS & SCENE STUDY through Atlantic Acting School. Featuring plays by Tennessee Williams. This 10-week intensive course takes a deep dive into Practical Aesthetics acting technique and Throughline Script Analysis. Full Participants and Auditors will learn the technique and have the opportunity to analyze an entire role. Full Participants will bring in scenes of increasing length for their play, starting with 5 minutes and progressing to a final invited performance of 20+ minute, fully staged scenes. You will learn to make super-sharp, connected choices through a whole role; learn staging and stagecraft; and increase concentration and stamina. MONOLOGUES : A COMPLETE TECHNIQUE. My signature workshop meets for 4 three-hour sessions. Learn to Direct, Act and Audition with Monologues. You will learn my compete technique, and can finish with up to four audition-ready monologues in this class. $350. I will be holding some free introductions next week, including How to Choose a Monologue for Any Audition. Reply to this post to be notified. January 12-18 (Travel days Jan 11 and 19)
RESIDENTIAL 1-WEEK WORKSHOPS FOR ACTORS AND PLAYWRIGHTS IN TENNESSEE WILLIAMS’ MISSISSIPPI DELTA. Taught by Lucy Thurber (Playwriting) and Karen Kohlhaas (Scene Study). For the third time, we will meet in Clarksdale, Mississippi, the childhood home of Tennessee Williams. The week begins with a tour of the Tennessee Williams Rectory Museum and then various settings Williams used in his plays, and actors will read monologues and scenes set in those very spots. Participants will learn a lot about Williams, and will take deep dives into scene study with Karen, and playwriting with Lucy. Lucy’s group from last year has continued to meet, and to finish and have directed readings of their plays!
