Description
Old Dragon Medicine LLC seeks an authentic, qualified stage manager for our original production of Shit’s Messy (TBD). This is a paid, independent contractor position.
About the Production
This musical-theater-esque production protests the rampant abuse of power facing our nation today. The production engages music, dialogue, dance, and a bit of comedy to weave these elements together in a cohesive yet messy way.
Although we have not yet booked a theater, we’re planning for a 4 or 8-week run, with weekend performances starting around the beginning of September 2026.
Contract Dates: Immediately - Wrap Party (October or November 2026)
Compensation: $11,000 flat rate* (4-week run)
Projected Total Project Hours: approximately 420 hours**
Experience Required: 1-2+ years as a Stage Manager
Highest Degree Required: HS Diploma or equivalent
*paid monthly or biweekly (every 2 weeks)
**If we’re granted an 8-week run, an additional $2600 (approx. 100 additional hours) will be included. The monthly (or biweekly) payment will be adjusted accordingly for all future payments from the date of the theater[s]'s booking.
Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to:
¨ Stage Management duties, including pre-show checks, running rehearsals, and coordination between entities as needed.
¨ Prepare and maintain show paperwork, including cue sheets, reports, and venue documentation.
¨ Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
¨ Ability to stay calm, professional, and positive under pressure.
¨ Coordinate and oversee rehearsals.
¨ Communicate effectively between the director, cast, and crew.
¨ Prepare and distribute rehearsal schedules.
¨ Manage the backstage area during performances.
¨ Ensure all technical elements are in place.
¨ Call cues for lights, sound, and set changes.
¨ Maintain production documentation, including prompt books and blocking notes.
¨ Ensure the safety of cast and crew during rehearsals and performances.
¨ Handle emergencies calmly and efficiently.
¨ Facilitate smooth transitions between scenes.
¨ Coordinate with the production team to solve any issues that arise.
¨ Conduct pre-show checks to ensure readiness.
¨ Supervise the stage crew.
¨ Assist with the load-in and load-out of sets and equipment.
¨ Solution-focused.
Requirements include, but are not limited to:
¨ 1-2+ yrs Experience in a similar stage management role.
¨ Leadership experience.
¨ Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
¨ Ability to work well under stress.
¨ Available to attend all rehearsals and performances.
¨ Proficiency in stage management software.
¨ Knowledge of technical aspects of theater, including lighting and sound.
¨ Basic knowledge of theater production elements.
¨ Attention to detail.
¨ Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
¨ Team player with a collaborative attitude.
¨ Maintains a professional demeanor.
¨ High school diploma or equivalent.
¨ Excellent self-management skills.
¨ Create their own work schedule based on workflow and need.
¨ Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
¨ Ability to lift and move heavy objects as needed.
