Position Summary
Death of Classical is seeking an enthusiastic Producing Associate to join our team for a temporary 6 month post. This role is ideal for an emerging producer (less than 5 years in the field) who is eager to gain hands-on, real-world experience across all aspects of producing innovative live music and immersive events.
The Producing Associate will support projects at every level of the organization, working closely with senior staff on arts administration, PR & marketing, and event production. This is a part-time position designed for someone curious, highly organized, and excited to learn how ambitious cultural projects come together from concept to execution.
About Death of Classical
Death of Classical presents acclaimed classical music and opera concerts in extraordinary spaces - crypts, catacombs, and cemeteries - paired with curated food, drink, and spirits tastings. Our performances have been praised by the New York Times, Billboard, Forbes, and The New Yorker, featuring renowned artists from the New York Philharmonic to Laurie Anderson. We create deeply personal, transformative experiences that change how people perceive and experience classical music.
DoC was founded by Andrew Ousley, who who is also the President and Founder of Unison Media, an award-winning, industry-leading PR/Marketing agency for the performing arts.
Hours and Compensation
Part-time, non-exempt, 20 hours per week
Compensation: $20/hour
Location: Primarily remote during normal business hours, with required on-site work for concerts, events, and site visits (some evenings and weekends)
Key Responsibilities
Assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of live music and immersive events
Providing administrative support across departments, including scheduling, documentation, and internal communications
Supporting the PR & marketing team's efforts
Assisting on-site at concerts, events, and site visits, including setup and breakdown
Learning and using project management systems to track tasks, deadlines, and deliverables
Supporting general production needs as they arise
Qualifications-Essential
Emerging producer (less than 5 years in the field)
Prior experience producing live music events and/or immersive events strongly preferred
Strong administrative and organizational skills, with close attention to detail
Willingness and ability to learn new project management tools and systems
Comfortable performing physical tasks related to event production and venue setup
Flexible availability for nights and weekends as required by events
Reliable, proactive, and excited to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Desirable
Experience in nontraditional venues or site-specific productions.
Familiarity with lighting, sound, or stage management tools.
Basic knowledge of NYC event permitting or safety regulations.
A calm demeanor when things get dark — literally.
