Founded in 1985 by Board Chair Hon. John V. Lindsay, Executive Producer Bernard Gersten and Director Gregory Mosher, and led for 33 years by André Bishop, LCT is one of the leading nonprofit theaters in the country, producing an annual season of plays and musicals that have been seen by millions around the globe. It is one of 11 autonomous constituents of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Each year, the three theaters that make up LCT welcome nearly 300,000 audience members to its home on the Lincoln Center campus.

Over the last 40 years, LCT and its outstanding productions have received many of the highest accolades, including 87 Tony Awards®, 97 Drama Desk Awards, 79 Outer Critics Circle Awards, 33 Obies, 11 NY Drama Critics Circle Awards, and one Pulitzer Prize, as well as two finalists.

Position Summary:

Lincoln Center Theater (LCT) seeks a strategic, analytically driven, and highly collaborative Director of Marketing to lead campaign strategy and execution across its productions and institutional initiatives.

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Director of Marketing is a senior leader within the marketing department, responsible for shaping and driving comprehensive marketing, publicity and sales strategies that deepen audience engagement, grow revenue, and advance LCT’s artistic mission. This role oversees the marketing team’s daily functions and partners closely across departments to ensure campaigns are cohesive, compelling, and reflective of Lincoln Center Theater’s distinctive voice.

The Director of Marketing will develop and lead integrated campaigns for Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, as institutional campaigns pertaining, but not limited to, overall brand, membership, development, education, and community engagement. This leader will translate season-wide vision into dynamic, data-informed marketing strategies that resonate with diverse audiences, but existing and new.

The Director manages the day-to-day operations of the marketing team, ensuring campaigns are executed with rigor, clarity, and innovation. The ideal candidate brings both a grounded strategic perspective and proven hands-on campaign experience, along with a deep appreciation for the power of live theater.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies for all LCT productions and initiatives.
  • Lead strategy on LCT3 productions with support from CMO and marketing staff.
  • Drive revenue growth through comprehensive campaign planning, audience segmentation and analysis, pricing strategy collaboration, and ongoing performance optimization.
  • Collaborate with CMO to set measurable goals and ensure marketing efforts align with institutional priorities, season strategy, and long-term audience development objectives.
  • Supervise and mentor marketing staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and creative thinking.
  • Oversee marketing budgets, ensuring campaigns are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with financial projections.
  • Partner across departments, including Development, Education and Community Engagement, General Management – as well as external advertising, publicity and merchandise agencies – to ensure alignment and cohesion.
  • Champion audience development efforts, with a focus on expanding reach and deepening engagement.
  • Maintain brand consistency while supporting the unique identity of each production and initiative.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of marketing leadership experience, ideally within live entertainment, performing arts, or cultural institutions.
  • Demonstrated success leading revenue-driven campaigns.
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning skills.
  • Experience managing teams and complex, multi-channel campaigns.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
  • A passion for theater and the arts.

Compensation & Benefits:

This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position with an annual salary range of $130,000-$140,000. Lincoln Center Theater provides comprehensive benefits including: Paid Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance, 403(b) and Employer Match, and Paid Time Off.
