SEEKING

The Hippodrome Theatre is seeking performers for the upcoming production of Million Dollar Quartet, the electrifying musical inspired by the legendary recording session that brought together Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins. (See breakdown.)


PREPARATION

Prepare a brief song in the style of 1950s rock, rockabilly, country, or early rock and roll. Actors auditioning for musician roles should be prepared to play their instrument. Bring a headshot and resume.

About the Show:

On December 4, 1956, four rock-and-roll legends gathered at Sun Records in Memphis for what became one of the greatest jam sessions in music history. Million Dollar Quartet brings that moment to life with iconic songs including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “I Walk the Line,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” and more.


Elvis Presley – Rising rock-and-roll star who already left Sun Records for RCA at the time of the session.

Johnny Cash – Country and rockabilly singer known for his deep voice and storytelling songs.

Jerry Lee Lewis [CAST] – Wild, energetic pianist nicknamed “The Killer.”

Carl Perkins – Guitarist famous for writing Blue Suede Shoes.

Sam Phillips – Owner of Sun Records and the man who brought these artists together.

Dyanne [CAST] – Elvis’s girlfriend (fictionalized character in the musical); she sings several numbers including Fever.

Fluke – Studio engineer at Sun Studio.

Jay Perkins – Carl Perkins’ brother and bandmate
