DESCRIPTION

Quincy Community Theatre seeks a guest director for its mainstage production of WAITRESS, featuring original music and lyrics by Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles and book by acclaimed screenwriter Jessie Nelson. The Guest Director will work closely with QCT’s eight professional staff and guest production team to bring this classic story to life.

Jenna, a waitress and expert pie maker, is stuck in a small town and a loveless marriage. Faced with an unexpected pregnancy, Jenna fears she may have to abandon the dream of opening her own pie shop…until a baking contest in a nearby county and the town's handsome new doctor offer her a tempting recipe for happiness. Supported by her quirky crew of fellow waitresses and loyal customers, Jenna summons the secret ingredient she's been missing all along — courage.

Quincy Community Theatre’s mission is to offer and perpetuate quality theatre entertainment and education through community participation. QCT produces eight shows each year: four mainstage adult productions, two mainstage student productions, one student production in QCT’s lab theatre, and one student touring production for area schools and community centers. Quincy, Illinois is a city along the Mississippi River with a population of 40,000, where there is strong support for the arts. Quincy Community Theatre has its own facility in the Oakley-Lindsay Center, with a proscenium stage and a house size of 498.
