Position: Choreographer
Production: Upper School Musical
Audition Dates: February 19, 20, 21, 2025
Performance Dates: May 15, 16, 17, 2025
Rehearsals: Monday through Friday, 3:30pm to 6:00pm, following Packer’s school calendar (Choreographer not needed daily)

Overview:
Packer Collegiate Institute is looking for a skilled Upper School Musical Choreographer to design and teach choreography that enhances the artistic vision of the show. The ideal candidate will have experience with high school-level productions, a strong dance background, a collaborative spirit, and a creative approach to movement that enhances the production’s storytelling and aligns with the technical skills of the high school students.

Responsibilities:
* Coordinate and direct choreography auditions and assist the Director with casting decisions based on movement abilities and the needs of the production.
* Design choreography that aligns with the production's theme, characters, and students’ abilities, ensuring both an educational and entertaining experience.
* Schedule and lead choreography rehearsals, coordinating with the Director, Technical Director, and Musical Director to ensure seamless integration with staging, technical elements, and music.
* Collaborate in production staff meetings to discuss artistic direction, costume, set requirements, and any special staging needs for choreography.
* Attend sitzprobe/wandelprobe, adjusting choreography as needed to adapt to the performance space and final musical arrangements.
* Support students in developing confidence, discipline, and self-expression through movement.

Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Dance or related field preferred
* Experience in choreographing for high school or professional musical theater.
* Strong teaching and communication skills with a collaborative approach.
* Familiarity with diverse dance styles and the ability to adapt choreography to various skill levels.
* Ability to create a positive learning environment that challenges and supports student performers.

Compensation: $4,000
This position is classified as exempt and is compensated through a stipend. The individual will be employed as a W2 employee.
