Position: Music Director
Production: Middle School Musical
Audition Dates: January 13, 14, 15, 16, 2025
Performance Dates: April 24, 25, 26, 2025
Rehearsals: Monday through Friday, 3:30pm to 6:00pm, following Packer’s school calendar (Music Director not needed daily)

Overview:
Packer Collegiate Institute seeks an experienced Middle School Musical Music Director to guide the vocal elements of the production. The successful candidate will have experience in musical direction for young performers and the ability to bring out the best in each student's musical abilities.

Responsibilities:
* Coordinate and direct vocal auditions and assist the Director with casting decisions based on vocal abilities and the needs of the production.
* Teach and conduct all vocal music for the show.
* Navigate the male voice change thoughtfully with regard to melodic/harmonic alterations
* Lead music rehearsals, ensuring a cohesive sound that complements the work of the Director and Choreographer.
* Create practice tracks for cast
* Attend production staff meetings, sitzprobe/wandelprobe, coordinating with the full production team on all musical aspects.
* Arrange and direct an instrumental pit ensemble or accompaniment (if applicable).

Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Music or related field preferred.
* Experience in music direction for theater, particularly with middle school students and the male changing voice.
* Strong vocal, piano, and conducting skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with a creative team and create a positive, educational environment for young performers.

Compensation: $7500
This position is classified as exempt and is compensated through a stipend. The individual will be employed as a W2 employee.
