The Show
Drunk® Shakespeare is the hit comedy where five classically trained actors attempt to perform a Shakespearean masterpiece—after one of them takes five shots of whiskey. The result is a boozy, irreverent, and wildly entertaining theatrical experience.

We’re seeking a passionate, creative, and highly organized General Manager to lead our venue in Phoenix.

WHO YOU ARE

You're a charismatic and resourceful leader who thrives in live performance environments and has a deep respect for the creative process. You're equally at ease giving notes to actors and solving logistical puzzles behind the scenes. You balance an eye for artistry with rock-solid operations. You can juggle solving last-minute venue issues with providing guidance to a large team of direct reports ranging from actors, stage managers, bar managers, bartenders, and servers.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

MANAGEMENT & OPERATIONS

  • Oversee all aspects of venue operations, including front-of-house, bar service, ticketing, and audience experience

  • Manage and schedule a 20+ person team of cast, crew, and venue staff, ensuring full coverage and smooth operations while balancing shifting priorities and multiple personalities to keep production running smoothly day-to-day

  • Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) during performances

  • Directly interface with patrons, providing exemplary customer service and ensuring a five-star experience

  • Ensure compliance with safety, alcohol service, and fire/emergency certifications

  • Maintain high production value through leadership, coordination, and attention to detail

  • Handle payroll, cash management, and venue financials in collaboration with company leadership

  • Conduct regular reporting and communicate openly with Producers and the Company Manager according to company policies and standards.

CREATIVE QUALITY

  • Demonstrate strong artistic sensibility and the ability to engage in nuanced, in-depth conversations with Artistic Leadership about performance quality, tone, entertainment value, and storytelling

  • Observe performances and assess artistic quality in alignment with Artistic Leadership’s vision

  • Provide clear, thoughtful creative feedback to Artistic Leadership for communication to cast

  • Support casting efforts and the onboarding of new performers in the Drunk Shakespeare style

  • Step into rehearsals selectively when needed (e.g., onboarding new cast members or addressing urgent quality issues), rather than as a routine responsibility

  • Contribute to the support and launch of additional Drunk® concepts as needed

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 3+ years experience in theater management, direction, or stage management

  • 3+ years experience in patron-facing customer service, preferably in hospitality/alcohol-related industry

  • Proven leadership with the ability to coach, inspire, motivate, and build trust

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to self-manage and juggle multiple priorities

  • Comfort with basic technical theater elements (lights, sound, cues)

  • Bar management experience is a plus.

  • Experience with Shakespeare and other classics + comedy a plus

  • A cool head and quick instincts in high-pressure situations

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

  • $65,000/year

  • 25 paid vacation days annually

  • Health Insurance stipend (starting after 6 months)

  • 4 complimentary tickets/month to Drunk Shakespeare

  • Opportunities for advancement based on performance
