Job Title: Assistant Director – After School Theater Program Job Type: Part-Time (4 days per week, 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM)
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated, organized, and energetic Assistant Director for our After School Theater Program. This role involves assisting in directing, organizing, and managing theater classes, with different casts and classes each day. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing a room of up to 40 children, ages 5- 12, and should be prepared to act as the lead director in the main director’s absence. A background in choreography is highly desired, as you’ll also support or create choreography for various performances.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the planning and execution of theater classes, ensuring each class runs smoothly and maintains an engaging, supportive environment.
Supervise and assist manage up to 40 children per session, fostering a fun and creative atmosphere.
Act as the main director when the primary director is unavailable.
Develop and teach choreography as needed.
Collaborate with the director to prepare students for performances, teaching lines, blocking, and stage presence.
Requirements:
Prior experience working with children in a classroom, theater, or after-school setting.
Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage a large group effectively. Choreography experience is highly preferred.
Ability to work collaboratively with the director and independently when necessary. Dependable, punctual, and committed to the 4-day-per-week schedule.
Pay: Stipend Dependent on experience.
