Description:

The Audio Technician’s primary duty is to work as an assistant to the Sound Supervisor & Lead Audio Engineer, supporting Juilliard’s students in a professional atmosphere as they perform in a multitude of performances and projects across varied genres in multiple venues.

This is a seasonal, 40 week position with a salary range of $51,000 - $53,000 per year.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Along with the Sound Supervisor and Lead Audio Engineer, meets and works with all sound designers, conductors, and stage managers to determine each production’s needs
  • Assist in the setup and testing of sound systems in all performance spaces
  • Works with the Lead Audio Engineer to install sound systems in studios when required
  • Perform duties of A1 or A2 on productions as assigned
  • Coordinate with Media Production on productions when needed
  • Install & maintain video systems for conductor and stage cameras, training all necessary personnel on these systems.
  • Attend production meetings, tech rehearals, and performances as needed
  • Update the Sound Supervisor on the status of the productions to which you are assigned
  • Fulfill maintenance duties on a daily, weekly, and yearly basis both in the theaters and in the electrics/sound shop
  • Assist Sound Supervisor and Lead Audio Engineer with administrative and technical paperwork

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to work well collaboratively as part of and in a team setting.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment
  • A commitment to equity, diversity, inclusiveness, and belonging.
  • Three years experience running sound in a professional venue
  • Experience in playback and live mixing
  • Proactive in assessing situations and their needs
  • Understanding how audio systems are installed and maintained
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule inclusive of nights and weekends

Preferred Background:

  • Experience working in an educational institution.
  • Working knowledge of Dante systems
  • Experience running and editing Qlab playback systems
  • Experience using Digital consoles, especially Digico
