No roles will be understudied.

Casting may include one show or multiple shows throughout the season - for guest
contracts as well as resident company. The Lyceum Theatre is an equal opportunity employer.

There will be a special YOUTH call Friday, February 13, 2026 from 3pm – 8pm. Children under 17 are encouraged to attend that call.

PREPARATION
Please prepare two contrasting songs no longer than one minute or a brief monologue (totaling less than 2 minutes). Bring sheet music in your key for the accompanist. Please bring a picture and resume stapled together.

SEEKING:
ANNIE: A smart, brave, and optimistic orphan who dreams of finding her parents. Strong belter with excellent acting skills. Must carry the show with confidence, charm, and emotional depth. Vocal Range: A3–E5

MOLLY: The youngest orphan. Sweet, endearing, and often needs comforting. Small but spunky with
good comedic timing.

PEPPER: The toughest orphan. Feisty and sarcastic. Often the first to speak up or challenge
authority.

DUFFY: The oldest orphan. Confident and mature. Often acts as a big sister to the others.

JULY: Quiet, motherly, and gentle. A calming presence in the orphanage.

TESSIE: Always worried. Often cries out, “Oh my goodness!” Needs strong comedic delivery.

KATE: A shy orphan who follows the others. Sweet-natured and eager to please.

ENSEMBLE ORPHANS: Additional performers may be cast to join the orphan ensemble. Energetic and expressive. All must sing well and move confidently.

Oliver Warbucks: A very rich man who cares more about his money than his relationships with others, until he has his heart stolen by an 11 year old girl. He is gruff, powerful and imposing. Mover. Gender: Male presenting. Age: 35-65. Vocal range: Strong Baritone (C to high F)

Grace Farrell: The private secretary to Oliver Warbucks. She is attractive, graceful and competent in her role. She is motherly to Annie and wishes to be more than Warbucks’ employee. Mover. Gender: Female presenting Age: 25-40 Vocal range: Lyric Soprano (A to high G)
Rooster Hannigan: The younger brother of Miss Hannigan, Rooster is the villain in the show. He is mean, slimy and has recently been released from jail.

Rooster should be able to move well. Dancer. Gender: Male presenting Age: 30-45 Vocal range: Rough Tenor/Baritone (B to high G)

Lily St. Regis: Rooster’s girlfriend. She is not very smart but sexy and provocative. Dancer Gender: Female presenting Age: 25-35 Vocal range: Squeaky Soprano (D to high G)

Bert Healy: The ultimate radio personality. He helps Annie by broadcasting about the search for her birth parents. Mover Gender: Male presenting Age: 30-45 Vocal range: E4-G5

ABIGAIL ADAMS / REV. JONATHAN WITHERSPOON: ABIGAIL: (Female, 30's-40's): John’s wife. Passionate, capable, funny & smart. WITHERSPOON (Male, 40+): From New Jersey. Argues for the inclusion of Supreme Being in the declaration.

MARTHA JEFFERSON/ HALL: MARTHA (Female, 20's-30's): Jefferson’s wife. Beautiful, charming and a bit quirky. DR LYMAN HALL: (Male, 40’s) From Georgia. Initially sides with Dickinson. A considered, intelligent, moral man.

CAESAR RODNEY (Male, 40's up): From Delaware. Steadfast, but ailing from skin cancer.

RICHARD HENRY LEE: (Male, 30s-40s) From Virginia. A bombastic, confident, larger than life man. Makes the argument for independence to the Congress.

COL. THOMAS MCKEAN: (Male, 40s-50s) From Delaware. Scottish accent. A big, commanding presence, but likeable.

COURIER: (Male, 16-21) A message runner in the throes of battle. Has seen more than someone his age should. An incredible singer.

CHARLES THOMSON: (Male, 30s-40s) Congressional Secretary. Responsible for all the announcements and votes in congress. Has a strong speaking voice. Good with language.

EDWARD RUTLEDGE: (Male, 30's). From South Carolina. Calculating. An incredible singer.

ANDREW MCNAIR: (Male, Late 20’s-40’s) Congressional custodian. Beleaguered and put upon. Low status.

STEPHEN HOPKINS: (Male, Late 50s+) From Rhode Island. 2nd oldest member of congress. A perpetual drinker.

ROBERT LIVINGSTON: (Male, 30s-40s) From New York. Very much a diplomat.

JOHN HANCOCK: (Male, 40's-50's). President of the second continental congress.

SAMUEL CHASE: (Male, Late 30s-40s) From Maryland. Always eating. Initially sides with Dickinson.

DR. JOSIAH BARTLETT: (Male, Late 30's-50's) From New Hampshire. Well spoken, moral & in favor
of independence.

JOSEPH HEWES: (Male, 30's-40's). From New Jersey. A staunch defender of American rights.

JUDGE JAMES WILSON: (Male, 30s-40s) From Pennsylvania. Under Dickinson’s thumb and easily influenced. Ultimately casts a deciding vote for independence.

ROGER SHERMAN: (Male/Female, 30s-40s) From Connecticut. A simple cobbler. Female-identifying actors are encouraged to submit for this role.

[NARRATOR/MYSTERIOUS MAN] Male, 50s—70s, any ethnicity.The NARRATOR: An intellectual and likable storyteller who helps to orchestrate the show and illustrate lessons to the audience. An engaging character actor. MYSTERIOUS MAN: A mischievous vagrant and nosy meddler. He has spent a lifetime running from his mistakes.He’s whimsical and untouchable but hides a deep pain. [CINDERELLA’S PRINCE/WOLF] Male, 30s—40s, any ethnicity. CINDERELLA’S PRINCE: He is next in line to the throne and thus is pressured to hold a perfect public persona. A handsome and sexy prince. He is seductive, yet funny; privileged and reckless. Self-centered, shallow, and shameless. WOLF: Villainous, wily, and predatory. Seeking a funny, very physical, robust performer. He beguiles his victims with his charm until it’s too late. Vocal Range: B2-F4

[JACK] Male, 18+ to play younger, any ethnicity. He is a constant daydreamer and the reluctantprovider for his family. He’s often unable to read his surroundings but can rise to any occasion in a

[JACK’S MOTHER/GRANDMOTHER] Female, 40s—60s, any ethnicity. JACK’S MOTHER: A single mother left by her husband. She loves her son but is run ragged by the realities of life. SALVATION ARMY BAND/GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST/ENSEMBLE (Female identifying, Adult, Any Ethnicity) Alto. Violinist. The Ghost seems gentle and ethereal, but her questioning of Scrooge intentionally causes him to address memories he’d be happier to push aside. She uses music to transport Scrooge through the shadows of his past. A variety of other roles.

SALVATION ARMY BAND/GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PRESENT/ENSEMBLE (Gender non-specific, Adult 30s-50s, Any Ethnicity) Loud and boisterous, the Ghost lives in the moment but mixes their good nature with a serious understanding of the weight of time. A variety of other roles. Strong singer.
