DESCRIPTION

Blue Heron, a professional vocal ensemble based in Boston (Scott Metcalfe, artistic director; www.blueheron.org), seeks two actors (one youthful male presenting and one youthful female presenting) to perform dramatic readings of Spanish and Hebrew poetry interspersed throughout a concert of Renaissance settings of texts drawn principally from the Song of Songs. The performance will take place April 5, 2025, at 8 pm, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with a rehearsal period of approximately one week prior which may include weekday mornings, afternoons, and/or evenings. The actors will play the two main characters described in the poetry of the Song of Songs, a girl and a boy revelling in their first, intoxicating experience of love. The main text will be an English translation of the Song of Songs, but there will be additional texts in Hebrew and Spanish; actor must be fluent or at least proficient in Spanish, Hebrew, or both languages, in addition to English. Please note that this is a speaking role; singing is not required.
