Play Description
Zayn Malik just left One Direction, nobody can decide if the dress is blue and white or black and gold, and you just got truth-or-dared to leave the sleepover. It’s hell, we are in hell. Also known as the 6th grade middle school lunchroom.
Isabella, Emma, Katie, and Jean have been at the same lunch table since 4th grade, tucked in the far back corner within scent range of the fishy 5th-grade girls’ bathroom, when one of them decides it’s time for a change. Determined to secure a seat in the coveted Annex, where only the hottest shit at Riverside Middle School reside, the girls embark on a journey of makeovers, rebrands, séances, and trials of the soul. With four girls, four seats, and one final chance, TBH asks: what was my middle school bully really hiding?
ROLES AVAILABLE
Casting adults ages 18–30 to play tweens.
JEAN (11)
The butt of every joke. Chronically online in the uncool way. The most tween-aged of the group. Terribly awkward, but only ever means well. Always in the wrong place at the wrong time.
ISABELLA (12)
The queen of the group. Naturally blonde, naturally perfect. Carries herself with the confidence of a 30-year-old woman and believes herself to be one. Knows what is right and what is wrong.
HAILEY (12)
Fandom-obsessed, primarily The Hunger Games. Chronically online, but in a cool way. Probably secretly runs your favorite Tumblr blog.
EMMA (11)
Goalie for the rec soccer team. Doesn’t know much about the internet beyond YouTube. Wishes everyone got along. Desperate to be liked. Someone get this girl a Wellbutrin.
Actors of all ethnicities, body types, and abilities are encouraged to submit. LGBTQ+ actors strongly encouraged to audition.
