For the event, titled The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals, a select group of theater artists and producers from around the country will meet at the School of Drama in Manhattan for an intensive workshop that will culminate in the presentation of a new work.
The writing and rehearsals will begin Sunday evening Aug. 9, with development going through the night until a performance on Monday evening, Aug. 10 at 8 PM.
The performance is open to the public with free seating; reservations necessary by contacting [email protected].
Six writers, six directors, six producers and 24 actors have been chosen to participate from a large number of applicants. The workshop will feature team-building exercises and panel discussions with artists including Kristoffer Diaz, Austin Pendleton, Leigh Silverman, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Joel Marsh Garland, Jonathan Silverstein, Tam Mutu and many others.
"The Nationals present a great opportunity for young artists to meet their peers and begin building the relationships that will serve them throughout their careers," says founding producer Tina Fallon, who created The 24 Hour Plays in 1995. "We are seeking the very best of the next generation of theater artists--and we will arm them with what they need to find their way in this business—which is to say, each other."
