Eugene Ionesco's Exit the King opened at the Olivier Theatre on July 25 after beginning previews on July 17. Performances run through September 8.

Exit the King is directed by Patrick Marber (Travesties) and stars Rhys Ifans in the title role. The cast also includes Indira Varma, Debra Gillett, Derek Griffiths, Amy Morgan, Adrian Scarborough, and Sarah Campbell.

Ionesco's absurdist drama about a king who refuses to acknowledge death premiered on Broadway in 1968 at the Lyceum Theatre. It was revived in 2009 and starred Geoffrey Rush, Susan Sarandon, Lauren Ambrose, and Andrea Martin.
