Broadway favorite and four-time Tony nominee Raúl Esparza will uncover his family history on Finding Your Roots, airing on PBS January 18 (check local listings). See Esparza discover an unknown arts connection in his ancestry with host Henry Louis Gates, Jr. in a clip from the upcoming episode above.

Esparza made his Broadway debut in the 2000 revival of The Rocky Horror Show playing Riff Raff, and created the role of Jon in David Auburn's stage musical version of the Jonathan Larson rock monologue tick, tick...BOOM! Off-Broadway in 2001. He's gone on to appear on Broadway in Cabaret, Taboo, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Company, The HomecomingSpeed-the-Plow, Arcadia, and Leap of Faith. From 2012 to 2018, Esparza also starred as Rafael Barba on NBC's Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.

Finding Your Roots looks into the genealogical past of celebrities, with the current season set to find the stories and secrets hiding in the family trees of such figures as Nathan Lane, John Leguizamo, Leslie Odom, Jr., Tony Danza, Mario Lopez, and more.
