Marla Mindelle and the cast of Titanique stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers November 22 to belt out "Taking Chances"/"My Heart Will Go On." Get out your headphones and hairbrush microphones and watch the performance above.
The parody jukebox musical is currently in port at Off-Broadway's Daryl Roth Theatre, where it performs through February 19, 2023. The production transferred from an earlier run at the Asylum Theatre.
The musical parody of James Cameron's 1997 blockbuster film, filled with a catalog of Céline Dion hits, features a fictional version of the Canadian singer as an omniscient narrator. Commandeering a tour group at the Titanic museum, she tells guests her version of Jack and Rose's love story. The irreverent show includes the film's famous "My Heart Will Go On," as well as "All By Myself," "To Love You More," and others to explain what really happened to and between the lovers.
Starring are Mindelle (Sister Act) as Céline Dion, Constantine Rousouli (Cruel Intentions) as Jack, Frankie Grande (Mamma Mia) as Victor Garber/Luigi, Desireé Rodriguez (New Amsterdam) as Molly Brown, Russell Daniels (80's Prom) as Ruth, Carrie St. Luis (Wicked) as Rose, John Riddle (The Phantom of the Opera) as Cal, and Avionce Hoyles (Bat Out of Hell) as The Iceberg. The ensemble features Blu Allen, Courtney Bassett, and Donnie Hammond. Brad Greer serves as understudy.
Titanique was co-written by Mindelle, Rousouli, and director Tye Blue, and it features music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Nicholas Connell.
