Film & TV News Watch Lin-Manuel Miranda Offer a Remedy for the Encanto Obsessed

Current Oscar nominee Miranda chatted on Jimmy Kimmel Live about the upcoming awards and the animated Disney film.

Current Oscar nominee Lin-Manuel Miranda stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to chat about the upcoming awards ceremony and his involvement with the nominated films Encanto and tick, tick...BOOM! Check out the interview above.

Miranda is nominated for Best Original Song for "Dos Oruguitas" from the animated Disney film Encanto. However, it's the song "We Don't Talk About Bruno" that everyone is...talking about. The tune has reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, a first for a Disney song since Aladdin’s “A Whole New World” in 1993.

"Group numbers never are the hit," said Miranda about the surprise success. "The group number is the thing theatre kids like, but no one else likes, because they get to sing it at their cast party. And now we have this group karaoke number."

Don't worry, though. Miranda and Kimmel have come up with a way to quell the earworm for "the millions of Americans who can't get enough of Encanto." Watch that below.

Miranda directed the Netflix screen adaptation of Jonathan Larson's biomusical tick, tick...BOOM!, which garnered nominations for Broadway alum Andrew Garfield for Best Actor for his performance as Larson, and for Film Editing (Myron Kerstein and Andrew Weisblum).
