Original Hamilton stars Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr., and Daveed Diggs opened the 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which saw theatre vets Ariana DeBose, Will Smith, and Jessica Chastain bringing home awards. The ceremony took place February 27 at 8 PM ET and aired live on TBS and TNT. It is currently available for streaming on HBO Max. Watch the trio's introduction to the broadcast above.
Other presenters at the ceremony included Kate Winslet, who presented the 57th SAG Life Achievement Award to Oscar winner Helen Mirren, last seen on Broadway as Queen Elizabeth II in The Audience; Alexandra Daddario; Rosario Dawson; Ross Butler; and tick, tick... BOOM! actor Vanessa Hudgens.
Miranda recently made his screen directorial debut with Netflix's movie adaptation of tick, tick... BOOM!, which earned actor Andrew Garfield a SAG Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role.
Odom Jr. has been seen on screen in One Night in Miami... andThe Many Saints of Newark. He is also slated to star in the sequel to the Golden Globe-nominated drama Knives Out. Diggs appeared in the ABC series black-ish and co-created the television series Blindspotting, which has a cast led by Hamilton co-star Jasmine Cephas Jones.
Laks, the League's former executive vice president and general counsel, has been serving in the role on an interim basis since the departure of Charlotte St. Martin.
