On February 14, Brittney Johnson made history as the first Black woman to assume the role of Glinda in the Broadway production of Wicked full time. On February 24, Johnson appeared on NBC's The Today Show to discuss her landmark performance and was surprised with a message from original Glinda, Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth.

Said Johnson about the outpouring of enthusiasm she has received since assuming the role: “There is so much support and love, from anyone who has ever played this role, and anyone who has ever been in the show, the people who love the show all over the world. You can feel it, I feel it, and I am just so grateful."

Formerly the Glinda standby, Johnson has also appeared on Broadway in Les Misérables, Motown, Sunset Boulevard, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and Kristin Chenoweth: For the Girls.
