Directed by Robert Lewis, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever officially opened on Broadway October 17, 1965, playing three previews and 280 regular performances at the Mark Hellinger Theatre before closing June 11, 1966. The musical received three 1966 Tony nominations, including those for co-stars Barbara Harris and John Cullum. Barbra Streisand started in the subsequent film version.
Emmy nominee Burgess played Titus Andromedon in the hit Netflix series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and was also seen in the second season of Schmigadoon! His Broadway credits also include Good Vibrations, Jersey Boys, Guys and Dolls, and The Little Mermaid.
