In The Band's Visit on Broadway, Tony Shalhoub's character traveled to Israel. Now on his new show for CNN, Shalhoub himself is actually traveling. In his new six-part series Tony Shalhoub Breaking Bread, the Tony-winning actor travels to France, Iceland, Japan, and other locations to discuss bread—and how it can be a conduit into a variety of international cuisines and cultures. The series will premiere October 5.
See photos from the show's premiere event at New York's Crosby Street Hotel, followed by a VIP reception at Sadelle’s, September 30. In attendance were Shalhoub's Band's Visit castmates (including Tony winner Katrina Lenk) and other Broadway stars such as Nikki M. James and Danny Burstein, and Shalhoub's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel castmate Michael Zegen.
“This past year, shooting Breaking Bread has been one of the most joyous and revealing experiences, introducing me to people and places that I never could have expected,” said Shalhoub in a statement. “I can’t wait for audiences to connect with what I discovered—that humanity can be found at every dinner table.”
Breaking Bread will stream live for pay TV subscribers via CNN.com, CNN connected TV and mobile apps October 5. It will also be available on demand beginning October 6 to pay TV subscribers via CNN.com, CNN connected TV and mobile apps, and Cable Operator Platforms. See the Breaking Bread trailer here.
