Aaron Sorkin’s stage adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird plays its final performance at Broadway's Shubert Theatre January 16. The acclaimed production is scheduled to reopen at Broadway's Belasco Theatre beginning June 1, with current star Greg Kinnear returning to the role of Atticus Finch.

Directed by Bartlett Sher, the adaptation of Harper Lee's novel officially opened December 13, 2018. The production recouped its original investment in 19 weeks after opening.

Tony nominee Jeff Daniels (Sorkin's The Newsroom) originally took on the central role of Atticus Finch in the staging, which frames the Alabama-set story as a memory play as Scout recalls the 1930s trial in which her father defended a Black man accused of raping a white girl. Celia Keenan-Bolger won a Tony Award creating the role of Scout on Broadway. Read opening night reviews here.

"It has been an extraordinary experience to watch every member of this company bring Mockingbird back to life at the Shubert," says Executive Producer Orin Wolf. "While it is sad to go dark even for a short time, it is an honor to help this magnificent production continue its historic run in the Belasco Theatre and I look forward to its bright future as we kick off in June."

Oscar nominee and two-time Emmy winner Kinnear made his Broadway debut January 5 as Atticus Finch, succeeding Emmy winner Daniels. Baize Buzan, an original ensemble cast member of Mockingbird, also returned to the production that evening, succeeding Tony winner Keenan-Bolger as Scout.
