The musical follows its titular character, who travels from her cartoon black-and-white world into modern-day New York City to learn a little bit more about herself and bring inspiration to jaded New Yorkers. The Broadway production received two 2025 Tony Award nominations, for Jerry Mitchell's choreography (Mitchell also directed) and Jasmine Amy Rogers' leading performance in the title role. Despite its brief run, the show was the subject of a viral sensation thanks to Oh, Mary! understudy Hannah Sollow, who made "We could see BOOP!" an unlikely catchphrase all 'round the internet.
“BOOP! The Musical delivers a wonderful opportunity for school, community, and professional theatres to produce a show with amazing leading roles and fabulous ensemble parts for a large cast," shares TRW CEO Steve Spiegel in a statement. "Along with our recent acquisitions of Pirates! The Penzance Musical and Swept Away, we look forward to bringing the journey of this beloved character to the marketplace.”
Foster has teased the possibility of a national tour for the title in 2026, though official word has not yet materialized.
