TheaterWorks USA is taking its family-friendly musical Dog Man: The Musical on the road. The limited tour will launch November 21 at The Kirk Douglas Theatre in Los Angeles, with additional stops set for Dallas, Texas; Chicago, Illinois; and Phoenix, Arizona. More stops will be announced in the coming weeks.

The musical previously played two Off-Broadway runs, in 2019 and 2023. Based on Dav Pilkey's book series, the musical features a book and lyrics by current Some Like It Hot star Kevin Del Aguila and music by Brad Alexander.

“We are thrilled to continue sharing the musical imagination of our pals George and Harold with family audiences on this upcoming tour,” says TWUSA Executive Director Michael Harrington. “We've seen that Dog Man: The Musical spreads joy—and slobber—wherever it goes! We cannot wait for families in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, and Phoenix to make memories with us at the theatre. Plus, it is always exciting when the show is running as Dav Pilkey fans everywhere prepare for the release of the next Dog Man book in March 2024.”

Dog Man: The Musical surpasses my highest expectations," adds series creator Pilkey. "It is the ‘Perfect Mash-up’ of memorable music, humor, and love."

Returning from the Off-Broadway runs are director-choreographer Jen Wineman, scenic designer Timothy R. Mackabee, costume designer Heidi Leigh Hanson, lighting designer David Lander, sound designer Emma Wilk, and orchestrator Lloyd Kikoler.
