Getting a musical to Broadway is challenging, but getting a vampire musical to Broadway? That's a whole other piece to bite into. In a special edition of the Playbill Podcast, Time to Kill: Making The Lost Boys Musical, the cast and creative team members of the upcoming Broadway musical The Lost Boys sit down over three episodes to discuss how they are adapting the 1987 cult classic vampires-meet-Peter Pan film for the stage.
The Lost Boys begins performances at the Palace Theatre March 27, with opening night set for April 26.
In the first episode of Time to Kill, Lost Boys lead producers and podcast hosts Patrick Wilson, James Carpinello, and Marcus Chait ("college friends who met 30 years ago") discuss how the Lost Boys musical journey began over 20 years ago. Later in the episode, the producers are joined by The Rescues, who they brought onboard to write the music for something that is "not a typical musical theatre show." Listen to the episode below.
Time to Kill is a multi-part series about the journey from screen-to-stage of The Lost Boys. The second episode, out February 24, will feature the show's creative team discussing the show's high-tech production elements. The third episode, out March 24, will feature the cast.
