International News Tanisha Spring and Dom Simpson Begin Run in West End Moulin Rouge! October 16

The international hit musical continues at the Piccadilly Theatre.

Beginning October 16, Tanisha Spring (Groundhog Day) will play Satine and Dom Simpson (The Book of Mormon) will play Christian in the West End production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical, now in its third year at the Piccadilly Theatre in London. Spring previously served as the original alternate Satine for the production.

Continuing into an additional year, Matt Rixon (Hairspray) plays Harold Zidler, Ian Carlyle (Disney’s The Lion King, Porgy and Bess) plays Toulouse-Lautrec, and Ben Richards (Emmerdale) plays The Duke. Joining them are Ivan De Freitas (& Juliet) as Santiago and Charlotte Gooch (Dirty Dancing) as Nini, with Anthony Cragg (Starlight Express) stepping into a new role as Baby Doll.

Hannah Jay-Allan (Beautiful) continues to play Arabia, with Rochelle Sherona (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) remaining with the company as the Arabia maternity cover. Bernadette Bangura (My Fair Lady) continues as La Chocolat, and Angela Marie Hurst (TINA: The Tina Turner Musical) continues as the alternate Satine.

The full third year cast also includes Oliver Adam-Reynolds, Erin Bell, Emily Bolland, Ross Chisari, James Chisholm, Katie Deacon, Fletcher Dobinson, Serenar Douch, Rola Elliott, Davide Fienauri, Zack Guest, Natorii Illidge, David King-Yombo, Jasmine Leung, Kira McPherson, Melissa Nettleford, Chris Otim, Joshua Robinson, Callum Rose, Ben Rutter, Gavin Ryan, Craig Ryder, Jamie Shields, Catrin Thomas, Matt Trevorrow, Charley Warburton, Sasha Woodward, and Luke Fraser Yates.

Directed by Alex Timbers, Moulin Rouge! The Musical has a book by John Logan, choreography by Sonya Tayeh, and music supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements by Justin Levine. The score is primarily comprised of myriad pop hits heard in the 2001 Baz Luhrmann spectacle, plus new chart-toppers released since then. The West End premiere of Tony winning musical opened January 20 at London’s Piccadilly Theatre.
