Alexis Scheer's Breaking the Story, which will receive a world premiere staging Off-Broadway at Second Stage Theater's Tony Kiser Theater later this spring, has announced its complete cast.

Beginning performances May 15, the production, which will be directed by Jo Bonney, will officially open June 4. The upcoming limited engagement will mark Scheer's return to Second Stage, where her play Our Dear Dead Drug Lord premiered in 2019 in a co-production with WP Theater.

The production is currently the company's final scheduled show within their Tony Kiser Theater space Off-Broadway.

Breaking the Story centers on a foreign war correspondent named Marina. After returning from a particularly bloody conflict, she considers what a life of peace would look like, and what it would take to move forward from the trauma she has witnessed.

The production will star Tala Ashe (English), Geneva Carr (Bull), Julie Halston (Hairspray, Gypsy), Louis Ozawa (Jack Ryan), Gabrielle Policano (Baby Girl), Matthew Saldívar (Bernhardt/Hamlet), and Maggie Siff (Billions).

They will be supported by an array of favored Second Stage creatives, including scenic design by Myung Hee Cho, costume design by Emilio Sosa, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, sound design by Darron L West, projection design by Elaine J. McCarthy, and original music by Dan Ryan. Casting is by The Telsey Office.
