Second Stage Theater celebrates the opening of the new musical Superhero February 28. With a book by Tony-winning writer John Logan (Red), and music and lyrics by Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Kitt (Next to Normal), the musical tells the story of a fractured family, a mysterious stranger in apartment 4-B, and an unexpected hero.
The world premiere of Superhero is playing in 2ST's Tony Kiser Theater with direction by Jason Moore (Avenue Q, The Cher Show). Leading the cast are Tony nominees Kate Baldwin and Bryce Pinkham as Charlotte and Jim, respectively, along with newcomer Kyle McArthur as Simon.
The cast of Superhero also features Julia Abueva (KPOP) as Rachel, newcomer Jake Levy as Dwayne, Salena Qureshi (Madam Secretary) as Vee, Thom Sesma (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street) as Vic, and Nathaniel Stampley (The Color Purple) as Dean Fulton.
Superhero features musical staging by Lorin Latarro, scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Sarah Laux, lighting design by Jen Schriever, sound design by Brian Ronan, projection design by Tal Yarden, and illusion design by Chris Fisher.
