Oscar-winning composer Stephen Schwartz, whose international hit musical Wicked recently celebrated 14 years on Broadway, will join Five for Fighting’s John Ondrasik to compose original music for the new drama Harmony, which has been given a pilot production commitment from ABC.
Based on an original idea from Jacob Chase, the musical pilot, according to Deadline, was penned by Chase and the creators of The Fosters: Peter Paige (Queer As Folk) and Bradley Bredeweg.
In the new drama the residents of Harmony, New York, sing and dance their feelings. The series follows a detective who returns to the town to help solve a brutal murder that disrupts the tourist destination.
Jon Chu will direct. Executive producers include Schwartz, Ondrasik, Bredeweg, Paige, Chu, Jonathon Komack-Martin, and Mandeville TV’s David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman, and Laurie Zaks. Chase is co-executive producing.
