See Who's Starring in Eliana Theologides Rodriguez's Indian Princesses

The work will make its Off-Broadway debut beginning in April.

Casting has been revealed for the upcoming Off-Broadway premiere of Eliana Theologides Rodriguez's Indian Princesses, set to begin at Atlantic Theater Company April 30 ahead of a May 19 opening night. The co-production with Rattlestick Theater will continue through June 7.

The cast will feature Ben Beckley (The Seat Of Our Pants) as Wayne, Anissa Marie Griego (1776) as Lily, Rebecca Jimenez (The Other Americans) as Andi, Greg Keller (Yellow Face) as Chris, Serenity Mariana (Peter Pan) as Hazel, Pete Simpson (Infinite Life) as Mac, Lark White (Grief Camp) as Maisey, Haley Wong (The Welkin) as Samantha, and Tony winner Frank Wood (Sideman) as Greg. Casting is by The Telsey Office's Karyn Casl, and Stephanie Yankwitt.

Set at a father-daughter crafting camp, the play wrestles with cultural appropriation and some questions that we seem to be unable or unwilling to answer.

Miranda Cornell is directing leading a creative team that includes scenic designer Emmie Finckel, costume designer Sarafina Bush, lighting designer Mextly Couzin, sound designer Salvador Zamora, and dramaturg Sierra Rosetta. Andie Burns will serve as production stage manager.

"Though I wrote this play as a comedy, its impetus was in part inspired by my own family history and the assimilationist agenda the United States employed to rob us of our heritage. The same heritage that was then repackaged and sold back to us generations later as a family-friendly after school activity," says Rodriguez in a statement. "This is what the phrase 'Indian Princess' represents to me now: the rewriting of history, the subjugation of an identity, and the confusion of being a little girl in a nation that denies you your power as it crowns you a princess."
