See Susan Boyle Perform 'I Dreamed a Dream' with the West End Cast of Les Misérables | Playbill

International News See Susan Boyle Perform 'I Dreamed a Dream' with the West End Cast of Les Misérables

This is the Grammy-nominated singer's first time performing since suffering a 'minor stroke' last year.

Fourteen years after her show-stopping audition on Britain's Got Talent performing "I Dreamed a Dream," the Grammy-nominated singer Susan Boyle has returned to the Britain's Got Talent stage to perform the song once more. She sang alongside the West End cast of Les Misérables. See the performance in the video above.

At the performance, Boyle first began with a duet version of "I Dreamed a Dream," with Lucie Jones. The two were then joined by the rest of the cast to perform "Do You Hear The People Sing?"

Boyle's 2009 debut on Britain's Got Talent led her to international superstardom. The performance this evening was special for Boyle, who revealed she had a stroke last year. "l suffered a minor stroke and I thought it'd be crazy to be back on stage and I have done it," Boyle said on the broadcast, to supportive applause (and some kind words from Simon Cowell).

Said Cowell: “Susan, we owe you so much. I knew you weren’t well but if anyone was going to come back, you were going to come back. We wouldn’t be the same without you. You are amazing."

Cameron Mackintosh's London production of the international hit musical Les Misérables, which resumed performances September 25, 2021, continues at the Sondheim Theatre with several new leading players.
