Performances began August 18 for the Off-Broadway debut of For Peter Pan on her 70th birthday, a play by two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist and Tony nominee Sarah Ruhl. The production, directed by Les Waters, opens Playwrights Horizons’ 2018–2019 season.

Ruhl returns to the Off-Broadway theatre with a story of second youth and the inevitability of growing old. The cast is headed by Tony nominee and three-time Obie winner Kathleen Chalfant as Ann, a woman for whom playing Peter Pan at her hometown children’s theatre is one of her fondest memories. “Now, 50 years later, Neverland calls again,“ read production notes.
For Peter Pan on her 70th birthday will officially open September 13 in the company’s Mainstage Theater, where it is scheduled to play through October 1.

Edelstein will directs a cast of 30, with nearly 1,000 San Diegans participating directly in the milestone production that will mark the completion of the Bard’s canon at the venue.
