Sean Hayes brings his Tony-winning performance in Doug Wright's Good Night, Oscar to London's Barbican Theatre beginning July 31 ahead of an August 6 opening night. The limited, seven-week run will continue through September 21.
Hayes is reprising his performance as Oscar Levant opposite his Broadway co-star Ben Rappaport, reprising his performance as Jack Paar. New for the U.K. bow is Rosalie Craig as June Levant, along with Daniel Adeosun as Alvin Finney, David Burnett as George Gershwin, Richard Katz as Bob Sarnoff, and Eric Sirakian as Max Weinbaum. Max Roll is reprising his work understudying Oscar Levant and Bob Sarnoff, with the cover company also including Tashinga Bepete, Ben Butler, Charlotte Hunter, and Ryan Speakman.
The work, which takes place backstage and on set of a 1958 episode of the Jack Paar Tonight Show, with Levant picked as the headlining guest, made its world premiere in 2022 at Chicago's Goodman Theatre before bowing on Broadway in 2023; both starred Hayes as Levant. Hayes won the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play for the performance.
Lisa Peterson is again directing after staging the Broadway bow. The production features scenic design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Emilio Sosa, lighting design by Ben Stanton and Carolina Ortiz, sound design by André Pluess, wham design by J. Jared Janas, and music supervision and arrangements by Chris Fenwick.
