Ryan McCartan, previously seen on Broadway as Hans in Disney's Frozen and Fiyero in the long-running Wicked, steps into the leading role of Jay Gatsby in Broadway'sThe Great Gatsby beginning January 21.
McCartan succeeds Jeremy Jordan, who played his final performance at the Broadway Theatre January 19.
Based on the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, The Great Gatsby features music and lyrics by Nathan Tysen (Paradise Square) and Jason Howland (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) and a book by Jonathan Larson Grant winner Kait Kerrigan (The Mad Ones). Marc Bruni (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) directs with choreography by Dominique Kelley (Mariah’s Magical Christmas Special).

Jay Gatsby, who will stop at nothing in his tragic pursuit of Daisy
Buchanan, a wealthy young woman whom he loved in his youth.
The Broadway cast also currently features Eva Noblezada (Hadestown) as Daisy Buchanan (through January 30) with Noah J. Ricketts (Frozen) as Nick Carraway, Sara Chase (The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) as Myrtle, Samantha Pauly (Six) as Jordan Baker, John Zdrojeski (Good Night Oscar) as Tom Buchanan, Terrence Mann (Pippin, Beauty and the Beast, Les Misérables) as Wolfsheim, and Charlie Pollock (Urinetown) as George Wilson.
The film purports to examine the Chicago Outfit’s alleged involvement in the JFK assassination, drawing directly from firsthand accounts and insights from the family of crime boss Sam Giancana.
