Internationally acclaimed tenor Rolando Villazón will star in a one-night-only staged concert of Man of La Mancha for Lincoln Center Theater's annual Spring Gala this year. The evening, directed by LCT executive producer and prolific Tony Award-winning director Bartlett Sher, will be held at LCT's Vivian Beaumont Theater May 18, followed by a post-performance dinner with LCT Artists at the David H. Koch Theater.
Man of La Mancha was written by Dale Wasserman with music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion. Featuring a score of enduring songs including “The Impossible Dream” and “Dulcinea,” the musical celebrates the perseverance of one man who refuses to relinquish his ideals and who is determined to see life not as it is, but as it ought to be.
Villazón will star as Cervantes and Don Quxiote, with further casting, by Telsey Office's Patrick Goodwin to be announced.
Tables and gala-entry tickets are now on sale, with show-only tickets coming this spring.
