On the heels of a sold-out run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, My Son's a Queer, (But What Can You Do?) written by and starring Rob Madge (Oliver!Les Misérables) will transfer to the West End's Garrick Theatre this fall. Performances for the strictly limited run will begin October 21 and continue through November 6.

The autobiographical solo show tells the story of raising a queer child with all of its joys and chaos, beginning with Madge at age 12 as they attempt to create a full scale Disney parade in their house for their grandmother. It originally premiered at Off-West End's The Turbine Theatre in 2021 where it also sold out.

Director Luke Sheppard (& Juliet, In the Heights) leads the creative team which features composer Pippa Cleary, orchestrator Simon Nathan, designer Ryan Dawson Laight, mixer Chris Fry, projection designer George Reeve, and video engineer Neil McDowell Smith.

"My Son’s A Queer, (But What Can You Do?) is the epitome of everything I dreamed The Turbine could be," said Paul Taylor-Mills, artistic director of The Turbine Theatre, in a statement. "A story of hope and acceptance, a celebration of life and a thrilling adventure rooted in trusting those we collaborate with. It has gone from a DM on Twitter during lockdown to a fully produced, sell-out show in our theatre, to a runaway Edinburgh season inside a big purple cow—many awards later, we’re at The Garrick."
