A host of theatre favorites join forces to celebrate late
playwright, composer, director, and actor Noël Coward November 17 at
London's Prince of Wales Theatre.
Daniel Evans, co-artistic director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, directs A Marvellous Party,
which features the talents of Hugh Bonneville,
Gyles Brandreth, Judi Dench, Lindsay Duncan, Cush Jumbo, Robert
Lindsay, Hilton McRae, Giles Terera, Alfred Enoch, Derek Jacobi, Ian McKellen, Joshua James, Samantha Spiro, Marisha Wallace, and Lia Williams.
Also participating are Chichester Festival Youth Theatre, New Adventures, and Wise Children Theatre School, in addition to Noël Coward Foundation bursary recipients, and a group of actors who regularly perform Coward’s work. Attendees can expect to enjoy excerpts, including previously unseen material, from Coward’s plays, sketches, musicals, and songs. Tom Brady is the evening's musical director.
The performance marks the culmination of Coward 125, the two-year long celebration of Coward’s life and work, leading up to the 125th anniversary of his birth.
Following Coward’s lifelong support of philanthropic causes, the gala
benefits three charities: The Queen’s Reading Room, the Noël Coward
Foundation, and Acting For Others.
Among Coward's Broadway titles are Tonight at 8:30, Design for Living, Bitter Sweet, Hay Fever, Blithe Spirit, Present Laughter, Sail Away, Waiting in the Wings, and more.
A Marvellous Party is produced by Julian Bird for Green Rooms Ents.
