The first night preview for the world premiere of Israela Margalit's Night Blooming Jasmine on Feb. 10 at the Tribeca Playhouse has sold out, according to SmartTix.
Jeremy Dobrish directs the story of two star-crossed lovers in war ravaged Israel -- he an Israeli Jew, she Israeli Arab.
Featured in the Moonlight Group production are Emmy Award-winner Thom Christopher, Pierre Epstein, David Josefsberg, Frances Anderson, Joshua Annex, Melissa Gabriel, Ian Kahn, Tricia Paoluccio and Dean Strober.
In a statement, director Dobrish said he was attracted to the play as a Jew who had fallen away from his roots. "This seemed like a perfect opportunity to explore that side of myself through my work," Dobrish said. "The deeper I got into the play, however, the more I realized just how universal these themes are. Prejudice, intolerance, and hypocrisy affect us all in a myriad of ways."
Previews for Night Blooming Jasmine begin Feb. 10. The show opens Feb. 16 and runs through March 4. Tickets are $15 and are available through SmartTix at (212) 532-8887 or by visiting smarttix.com. -- By Murdoch McBride
