Two-time Tony Award-winning actor Christian Borle makes a foray into directing with James Hindman’s small-town comedy Popcorn Falls, which begins performances August 18 at the Riverbank Theatre in Marine City, Michigan.

Hindman, a Broadway actor who has appeared in Mary Poppins, The Scarlet Pimpernel, 1776, and City of Angels, stars in his play about a small American town whose only tourist draw—its namesake waterfall—dries up, leaving the community bankrupt.

Hindman is joined in the production by Tom Souhrada (Kinky Boots). The two actors play over a dozen characters in the comedy that runs through August 27 on the Snug Theatre stage.

Borle is a Tony Award winner for his work in Peter and the Starcatcher and Something Rotten! He was Tony-nominated for his work in Legally Blonde and Falsettos. He currently stars as Willy Wonka in the new Broadway production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Tickets, priced $26, can be purchased by visiting riverbanktheatre.com.
