All aboard! Playbill Travel is thrilled to announce the first lineup of Broadway guests joining one of our most luxurious and exciting cruises to date: Broadway on the Dazzling Danube. This one-of-a-kind experience invites travelers to cruise from Hungary to Germany May 2–9, 2027, on AmaWaterways luxury ship, the AmaMagna.
Joining the cruise are Tony Winners Paulo Szot (South Pacific, Hadestown, Chicago, & Juliet) and Celia Keenan-Bolger (To Kill a Mockingbird, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Peter and the Starcatcher), and Tony nominee John Ellison Conlee (The Full Monty, 1776, The Constant Wife, The Nap). They will each celebrate their passion for Broadway and theatre with evening cabaret performances onboard the ship, accompanied by two-time Emmy Award-winning music director, composer and producer John McDaniel (The Rosie O’Donnell Show). Additional Broadway stars will be announced at a later date.
"We are very excited to experience this remarkable region and its deep, rich history," shares Phil Birsh, Chairman and CEO of Playbill, Inc and Playbill Travel. “In 2026, we will travel from Bulgaria to Budapest, and in 2027, the journey continues from Budapest on the Upper Danube River to Germany. This region, simply, has more history than most areas anyone can visit. There is so much to see and our ship, AmaWaterways' AmaMagna, is the most luxurious in Europe and twice the size of a normal river ship."
Playbill Cruises provide guests with up-close-and-personal experiences at the highest level (unlike any vacation you've ever taken). Cruise guests explore the world by day, then enjoy intimate and up-close cabaret performances from Broadway’s finest onboard the ship in the evening.
Upon flying to Budapest, join us onboard the AmaMagna for an evening celebrating the start of this incredible voyage. Sail to the majestic capital of Bratislava, Slovakia, and sample the local flavors. Then, arrive in Vienna, Austria, a treasure trove of Baroque architecture. Visit the regal Schönbrunn Palace, tour the historic center, or discover Vienna by bike.
Cruise through the stunning UNESCO Wachau Valley. Discover the charming village of Dürnstein, hike to its historic fortress, and sample local apricot delicacies and fine wine. Marvel at the magnificent Melk Abbey, situated high atop the granite cliffs of the Danube.
Guests can choose to explore Linz, the "UNESCO City of Media Arts," or embark on a full-day excursion to the historic city of Salzburg or the captivating Czech mountain town of Český Krumlov. Conclude your voyage in Passau, the "City of Three Rivers," where you can admire its Gothic and Italian Baroque architecture or hike up to the imposing Veste Oberhaus.
Onboard, guests will have a festive one-of-a-kind Bavarian celebration the final evening, then complete this one-of-a-kind cruise by disembarking the AmaMagna in Vilshofen, Germany, to begin their travels home.
