The world premiere of John Patrick Shanley's work is now playing at New York City Center's Stage I.

Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere Off-Broadway production of John Patrick Shanley's Brooklyn Laundry began performances Feburary 6, 2024 at New York City Center's Stage I. Opening night is set for February 28, with Shanley at the helm.  

SNL and Schmigadoon! alum Cecily Strong is starring as Fran, opposite David Zayas (Cost of Living) as Owen, Florencia Lozano (One Life to Live) as Trish, and Andrea Syglowski (Pass Over) as Susie. Casting is by Caparelliotis Casting & Kelly Gillespie.

Photos: Brooklyn Laundry Off-Broadway

The play centers on three sisters and a guy who run a Brooklyn laundry, and the "savage tricks life plays on them."

The creative team includes set designer Santo Loquasto, costume designer Suzy Benzinger, lighting designer Brian MacDevitt, and sound designer John Gromada. The production also features original music by Gromada. Kevin Bertolacci is production stage manager.

Manhattan Theatre Club is currently hosting the Broadway premiere for Joshua Harmon's Prayer for the French Republic, which began performances December 19, 2023 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. After in MTC's Broadway space will be Amy Herzog's Mary Jane, set to play the Friedman beginning in Spring 2024 and starring Rachel McAdams. Brooklyn Laundry is the company's only announced Off-Broadway show for 2024 so far.
