Awards Philip Glass' Akhnaten Wins Grammy Award for Best Opera Recording

Philip GlassAkhnaten, a modern opera, has won the 2022 Grammy award for Best Opera Recording. The award is given to the recording's conductor, Karen Kamensek; stars J’Nai Bridges, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Zachary James, and Dísella Lárusdóttir; producer David Frost; The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra; and The Metropolitan Opera Chorus.

Broadway alum James (The Addams FamilySouth PacificCoram Boy) leads the cast as Amenhotep III, father to Akhnaten.

Other nominees included Bartók: Bluebeard's Castle (Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra); Janácek: Cunning Little Vixen (London Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Chorus & LSO Discovery Voices); Little: Soldier Songs (The Opera Philadelphia Orchestra); and Poulenc: Dialogues des Carmélites.
