Broadway Cares Pet Adoption Event Broadway Barks Makes In-Person Return July 9

The annual adoptathon is hosted by Tony winners Bernadette Peters and Sutton Foster.

Broadway Barks, the theatre community's annual cat and dog adoption event, returns to Shubert Alley July 9 for its 24th annual adoptathon, the first in-person event for the annual offering since the pandemic. The event is free and open to the public.

Three-time Tony recipient Bernadette Peters, who co-founded the organization with the late Mary Tyler Moore, hosts the event alongside two-time Tony winner Sutton Foster, a longtime supporter of Broadway Barks. Scheduled to join them are numerous Broadway favorites, including Shoshana Bean, Jewelle Blackman, Alex Brightman, Kerry Butler, Bobby Conte, John Dossett, Claybourne Elder, Myles Frost, Jared Goldsmith, Randy Graff, Tamar Greene, Shuler Hensley, Antwayn Hopper, Jayne Houdyshell, Hugh Jackman, James Jackson Jr., Ramin Karimloo, Eddie Korbich, John-Michael Lyles, Jane Lynch, Jefferson Mays, Marie Mullen, Abby Mueller, Donna Murphy, Suzy Nakamura, Randy Rainbow, Christopher Sieber, Jennifer Simard, Talia Suskauer, Jason Veasey, and Julie White.

The event unites Broadway luminaries with the ASPCA, leveraging their star power to find loving homes for animals in need from participating NYC-area shelters, including Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniels Rescue Inc, Adopt A Boxer Rescue, AdvoCat Rescue, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), Animal Care & Control (ACC), Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Anjellicle Cats Rescue, Bide-a-wee, Bobbi and the Strays, City Critters, Francis’s Friends Inc., The Humane Society of New York, Husky House, Linda’s Cat Assistance, Little Shelter, Long Island Bulldog, Metropolitan Maltese Rescue, Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League Inc, Pet ResQ Inc., SaveKitty Foundation, SPCA of Westchester, Urban Cat League, Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue, and 1 Love 4 Animals.

More than 2,000 cats and dogs have been featured in the annual event, and approximately 85% have found forever homes. The event, produced by Broadway Cares, is held in Shubert Alley (located between 44th and 45th Streets, between Broadway and 8th Avenue). The adoption event begins at 3 PM, and celebrity presentations will be made from 5–6:30 PM.
