Lewberger & The Wizard of Friendship has found their wizkid choreographer! Nico DeJesus, who can currently be seen on Broadway in & Juliet, has been announced as the choreographer for the meta theatrical Off-Broadway musical coming to Theatre Row this February.
DeJesus, who has built a reputation as a dependable assistant dance captain in Pretty Woman: The Musical and & Juliet, as well as dancing in Newsies, and Marvel's Rodgers: the Musical, began dancing at the age of four, and has been an in-demand performer since joining the theatrical arena. The Wizard of Friendship will mark DeJesus's first major credit as a choreographer.
Said DeJesus; “I can’t wait to collaborate with Lewberger because I have immense respect for them as humans, artists, and friends. This will also be my New York choreographic debut and I couldn’t have asked for a better group to make it with.”
The meta-theatrical musical follows a fictional fight between the members of comedy band Lewberger that creates a rift so big between them that it breaks the heart of the Wizard of Friendship. Sent on a musical quest in the land of NoFriendia, their adventure takes them through "the intimidatingly Handsome Forest, through the Adults-only Haunted House, and many more amazing places all while being guided by… a giant… sausage man."
Double-billed with the musical, Lewberger will also perform their viral songs from YouTube and TikTok in Lewberger in Concert. Performances will begin February 23 at Theatre Row for a run through March 26.
The band stars Keith Habersberger of The Try Guys, actor and comedian Alex Lewis, and Emmy-winning songwriter Hughie Stone Fish. The musical is produced by Steven Brandon and Lewberger LLC.
In addition to their viral Internet presence, the band has performed on America's Got Talent and NBC's Bring The Funny, in addition to releasing their comedy special Lewberger: Live at Lincoln Hall on Amazon Prime.
