Industry News New Musical Fly More Than You Fall to Receive Industry Readings

The musical follows a young girl who uses writing to cope with the crushing news of her mother's terminal cancer diagnosis.

The new musical Fly More Than You Fall will receive a series of industry readings May 9 at 2 PM and May 10 at 11 AM.

Written by Eric Holmes (The Good FightSmash) and Nat Zegree (Million Dollar Quartet at Paper Mill Playhouse), the work follows a young girl, Malia, who processes her mother's terminal cancer through writing. Through her imaginative story of a disabled bird, Malia processes her struggles to navigate grief, puberty, and growing up.

The readings will be directed by Lili-Anne Brown. Tony and Olivier winner Marc David Levine produces, with hopes to bring the work to Broadway.

Following two years of initial development, Fly More Than You Fall was workshopped with Syracuse University's Department of Drama under the guidance of Marie Kemp and Ralph Zito in 2018. August 2019 saw a fully staged production that was presented at Utah Valley University (UVU). The show received a concert staging at Feinstein's/54 Below last month.
