New York Theatre Barn will present excerpts from in-development musicals The Pelican and Today We Celebrate Earth Day as part of its New Works Series November 3 at Five Angels Theater. The performance, the series' final this season, will also stream live.

With a book and lyrics by Will Lacker and music and lyrics by Dylan Glatthorn, The Pelican follows a group of residents in a climate change–ravaged Florida town faced with the decision of moving or staying in their homes and facing a potentially devastating hurricane. Kimille Howard is directing the Theatre Barn's upcoming presentation, with Glatthorn music directing. On hand to perform will be Diana DeGarmo (Hair), Austin Scott (& Juliet), Nasia Thomas (SIX), Jason Veasey (A Strange Loop), Judy McLane (Mamma Mia!), Michelle Dowdy (Hairspray), and Timothy Warmen (Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark).

Today We Celebrate Earth Day, which centers on a seemingly ordinary Earth Day celebration that takes a dark turn, features a book and lyrics by A.J. Freeman and music by Fernanda Douglas. Freeman is directing the presentation, and Douglas is music directing, with Sam Lobel serving as choreographer. Naomi Pierre (The Tempest), Charlie Carroccio (The 12 Days of Christmas Eve), Emiko Dunn, Jordan Greenberg, Sadie Mae O'Sullivan, and Logan Quintanta will perform.

Tickets are available at NYTheatreBarn.org.
