Nadim Sawalha plays Fayed, and also wrote the show, called All I Want Is A British Passport. As its title suggests, the play will examine the controversial businessman’s long-term (and so far unsuccessful) efforts to secure a British passport, even as he has bought up English institutions, including Harrods store and Fulham Football Club. It will be the second time Jordanian-born Sawalha has played Fayed. He starred in a 2000 BBC-TV drama, “Justice in Wonderland,” which looked at Fayed’s legal battles with Conservative MP Neil Hamilton (played by Charles Dance). A long-time stalwart of the British acting scene, Sawalha is one of its most- respected character thesps. He’s also spawned an acting dynasty, with both his daughters, Nadia and Julia (who star in the TV comedy “Absolutely Fabulous”) becoming famous in their own right.
