Murder for Two to Receive British Premiere | Playbill

News Murder for Two to Receive British Premiere Off-Broadway hit will be directed by Luke Sheppard.

The Off-Broadway musical whodunit Murder for Two is to be staged at London's Other Palace Studio, beginning performances March 2, 2017, prior to an official opening March 6 for a run through March 18, following a run at Newbury's Watermill Theatre January 26-February 25.

Featuring music by Joe Kinosian and lyrics by Kellen Blair, with both writers collaborating on the book, it is directed by Luke Sheppard and produced by the Watermill Theatre in association with Paul Taylor-Mills. Sheppard and Taylor-Mills previously collaborated on In the Heights, still running at King's Cross Theatre.

The production will feature musical direction by Tom Attwood and be designed by Gabriella Slade.

The musical is described as a madcap murder mystery with a twist. Two actors play 13 characters…and the piano. When famous novelist Arthur Whitney is found dead at his birthday party, it’s time to call in the detectives. The only problem is, they’re out of town. Enter Officer Marcus Moscowicz, a neighborhood cop who dreams of climbing the ranks. With the clock ticking, it’s up to Marcus to prove his super-sleuthing skills and solve the crime before the real detective arrives.

Also in the Other Palace Studio, This Joint is Jumpin' will begin performances April 4 prior to an official opening April 6 for a run through April 15. Celebrating jazz icon Fats Waller’s life and music, Michael Mwenso and The Shakes are joined by Michela Lerman for an evening of live jazz, tap dancing, and storytelling.
